Coastal Scent Brushes

Apart from their wonderful eyeshadow palettes , I've  heard so many wonderful reviews on their brushes as well. I went ahead and ordered via spree. The spree was handled by Becky Strawberry. I believe her quotation is pretty reasonable. She reply your email quite fast. Better than some seller I've dealt with. So do drop her an email if you are interested in anything :)

For the brushes.... Hmmm where should I begin. I was excited before I received them. I heard a lot of good reviews on them from Youtube and despite few bad customer reviews at the bottom of each product on Coastal Scent website I still went ahead and buy their brushes. I put my faith in the gurus. Nyehhh.. not a good idea at all.

This will be a post about bitching I guess. And a bit of nice words from me to sum it all up.

These are the brushes that I bought with their pricing details.
Pink duo fiber stippling brush $7.95 (RM38.20), black sable buffer $8.49 (RM46), Large pencil crease $3.95 (RM23), and precision detail taklon $2.79 (RM18.40).

This is the packaging that come from Coastal Scent. Normal nothing special.

The pink brush is kinda cute. Really! I love the handle color so much! They are so pretty.

I can't remember whether this is synthetic hair or animal fur. This brush has no smell. No awful smell at all and the bristles are soft.... But when I first use it, the brush shed so much! As in SO MUCH! Some of the hair even stick on my face when I use it! WTF right? Then I deep cleanse the brush. During cleaning the brush shed even more. But it doesn't seem to give much different to the appearance of the bristles.
When I compare this with MAC187 ( I know it is not fair) this one is not so dense. For application wise, swirling is okay. But stippling is a no. Maybe it is my technique but I seriously don't like this. The brush kinda frayed whenever I try to do the stippling motion :(

The stippling brush and the sable brush bristles.

This black sable buffer is quite soft as well. Not bad. Made out of sable hair. Very dense. I think I will love this brush if it wasn't because of the super stinky smell! The smell is so awful that I felt like puking when I use it on my face. Yes it is that bad.. The brush really smell like wet dogs! Ewwww. Disgusting.

I deep cleanse the brush. But the brush still smell very awful then I found a video by Enkore on how to deodorized your new brushes. I followed every single step. First time, the smell is still there. He said to soak it for 5 minutes right? I soaked it for 10 minutes! Still stinky..
I love the brush, the brush does its job well. Only the smell make me wanna toss it in rubbish bin. I tried deodorizing for the second time and this time I soaked it longer. 20 minutes maybe? STILL, the smell is there. I got fed up I soaked it for another hour! Anyway I still don't know whether I manage to get rid of the awful smell because I left it in to air dry in my room while I am in my hometown for holiday=P Will update the smell status when I got back =P

Another 2 brushes I bought.
The first one on the top is made from goat hair. Nice to use. Fluffy, great for blending. Great for applying color on the crease. But whenever I use it, i: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
The first one on the top is made from goat hair. Nice to use. Fluffy, great for blending. Great for applying color on the crease. But whenever I use it, it feels very pricky. So I rarely use it. I plan to get a good pencil brush that doesn't poke me!

The one at the bottom is Precision Detail Taklon. Very small. Great for eye liner. Nothing much to say except very small.

I hope the short review helps.

In my opinion, these brushes are not cheap! I meant for Malaysian. You can get better brushes from other brands like Ecotools or Body Shop or even the no brand ones, since Coastal Scent itself don't print their name on the brushes.. Other drugstore brand might not have stippling brushes etc, but at least they don't smell like something died in them. Which might be true since it is animal hair. Eee...

I don't think anybody in Malaysia should get these. First of all the price, you can get better one elsewhere. Second, you have to wait for few weeks for the brushes to arrive.
I think INCONVENIENT pretty much sums it all up :)

Here is the video on how to prepare your deodorizing solution for your stinky brushes =P
This actually works if the brushes is not too stinky.

PS: Review on Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel coming up SOON=D
