Bangkok Trip

::8 January 2010 - 10 January 2010::

::Day 1::

First of all, I would like to express my love for Bangkok! I LOVE BANGKOK!! Heavenly place for food and shopping. I love most of the things in Bangkok except for the unethical taxi drivers and tuk tuk drivers. Will explain further about it later :) We fly with Air Asia. Return tickets for both of us are around RM1,242. Booked it last minutes. As for hotels we booked Baiyoke Sky Tower. The tallest hotel in Thailand! :D Total for our room is Baht 5,598. Deluxe Sky Zone with breakfast. Booked the hotel through their website. Some says it is cheaper to book through agents like Agoda. Because at certain time they may have promotion. Well, my bf trust the company's website more.
We landed in Bangkok around 11.40 am (Bangkok time). Bangkok is 1 hour late from Malaysia. Flight took approximately 2 hours.

In the taxi to LCCT, Jo looking at itinerary I planned myself.

(Left) Immigration card to be filled upon arrival.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

 Bus that will take you the arrival hall. The distance on where the plane stops and the arrival hall is very far. It is free of charge of course.

To save on cash you should take public taxi. To take public taxi, you should follow the sign. You should take escalator down to the ground floor. All the taxi in the arrival hall or outside the arrival hall are limos and they charge very expensive.
From the airport to Baiyoke hotel are approximately Baht 400. Normally no tips are given. And if u dare ask the taxi driver to take Motorway highway and not Bang-Na. Bang-Na are further and always jam.
(Left) List of fares available in the taxi as a reference. (Right) "My" hotel!! :p

The hotel is located very very near to the famous Pratunam Market! Don't really like it. Pratunam market are packed with people and hot. I rather go to Platinum Malls for shopping. There are few shopping malls near by. Baiyoke are quite near to MBK, Siam Paragon, and Central World. Only Baht100 for Tuk Tuk. I think it should be lower, but since we are too lazy to bargain we just hop in.

Check In and Check Out counters.

 Our room is on the 58th floor. The higher your room is the more expensive it will be. But deluxe sky zone room worth every penny!

Tadaaa!!!
I was really satisfied with the room. It was very clean! Spotless! But the lighting a bit dimmed. Supposed to be honeymoon room I guess. Oh well, I won't be in the room anyway :D

Two bathrobe on the bed.

Couch. Small TV.
The toilet and shower and bath tub. Nice to soak in after a long day of walking.
The view from our room are spectacular! The pictures are a bit blur because they put shade at the windows. Big wide windows to enjoy the city view! After resting for a whilF>
The view from our room are spectacular! The pictures are a bit blur because they put shade at the windows. Big wide windows to enjoy the city view! After resting for a while we head out for lunch.
Baby is really crazy about Mc D, so we decided to try their Samurai pork burger and Chicken pie.

(Left) Chicken pie. Love this! (Right) Samurai Pork burger. Would recommend this to Terayaki's lovers! Too sweet for me. Went for shopping in Platinum Shopping Mall. Then we went back to hotel for some rest.
There are so many Angmos staying there! So to those girl who like white guys :) Stay in this hotel. By the way, Baiyoke Boutique and Baiyoke Suite are located near by Baiyoke Sky Tower.
This are the view taken from my room at 730 pm Thai time. The lights you saw are not street lights. Its from the cars! And yes its freaking jam down there! 5 lanes are full and not moving. And now I realized how much I love my hometown Miri.
Planned to go to Suan Lum night bazaar for dinner and some shopping. So we took a taxi there. The taxi driver are very friendly and polite. We would love to think so. He asked us where are we from, what are we doing, how long we have been in Bangkok and why we are going to Suan Lum. While me with my innocent-ness tell him that we are heading for dinner in Suan Lum. Then he voluntarily told us that there is a nice restaurant  named Sombondee and we should try it someday. And I say yes. Next thing we know he stop us infront of the restaurant and say he will pick us up one and half hour later!!! I was fucking mad! That restaurant not only SUCKS! He recommended it because the restaurant will give him a petrol voucher for bringing a tourist there! And the shop is full with tourist! Not even a Thai was in there!!! So, not to waste our time we just had our dinner there.
We ordered few dishes.

(Left) Chilli and garlic in soy sauce.
Tom Yam (Left) Chilli Clams (Right)
Tom Yam (Left) Chilli Clams (Right)

The omellete was good but the other two dishes sucks! And our bill came up to Baht1318. So expensive! I seriously keep on cursing the taxi driver! Because he brought us to the restaurant without permission we left the restaurant and take BTS to Suan Lum.
Lesson to learn, when a taxi driver or tuk tuks ask you whether you are hungry or not just say NO and you already had your dinner or lunch. This way they won't bring you to all these STUPID restaurant! Secondly, if the drivers ask you how long you have been in Thailand, just say you are there for sometime and today is your last day in Bangkok. At least this way they won't cheat you like they cheat us.

Planned to go Suan Lum but end up in Pat Pong coz we don't know how to get there even though it is very near. A lot of Thai guys walking around showing you template titled "SEX SHOW" hehehhe... My eyes almost popped out! One of the show are Tiger Show, where the girls open bottled cap with their private area! OMG!! How is that possible?????? But a lot of other bloggers or travelers advised tourist not to go for this kind of show saying its a scam. So you judge :) I passed by few bikini bars with girls dancing on the pole. They are gorgeously sexy!! I bet every man pass by gets a boner :p  ahaks! Big boobs! Flat tummy! Flawless skin! Damn! *wanted to take picture but scared kena chased :p *
When back to the hotel and go for a drink.

(Left)His. (Right) Screwdriver.

Then go back to the room and ordered room service. Soak in hot warm bath tub!!

(Left) Tom Yum Goong (yucks). (Right) Smocked Salmon (not bad).
(Left) Minced pork with chilli and rice. (Right) Porky satay!!

Sleep....ZzZzZz....

:: Day 2::

Starting our day with buffet breakfast at Baiyoke Sky Restaurant located at the 78th floor. Their foods are really good! From variety of European, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Muslim and Thai food.
(Left) Roti canai, grilled fish (Japanese style), mash potatoes, Thai special bun (I guess). (Right) Fried noodles, mash potatoes, cocktail sausages, ham.

(Right) Pure fresh watermelon juice.
View from the lift while going down from 83rd floor to G floor.

For the second day we planned to visit Grand Palace , Wat Phra Kaew (The Emerald Buddha), Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), and Wat Pho (Temple of Reclining Buddha).
Took a taxi there. On the way, the taxi driver asked whether he can stop us at the Gems Gallery so that he can get a petrol voucher. Since he asked nicely, we agreed. We end up buying a couple ring. A little advise, the quality are not so good and over priced.
Then we head of to The Grand Palace. To enter, you have to follow their dress code. No sleeveless, torn or tight pants, no mini skirt or short pants. There will be a place to borrow clothing if they found that you do not dressed appropriately. It is free of charge but a deposit of Baht200 is needed per piece of clothing.

The entrance is Baht350 for 3 places.
Feast your eyes with the temples pictures! :)

Notice the hair at the back side? :p

The Grand Palace.

Place where the King body kept for a year before the cremation.

Wat Phra Kaew.
(up) Wat Pho.

Cute kitty cat!

Nice drawing selling outside the temple. I bought a ship drawing for my mum for her business for Baht300 but left it at the hotel! :(

Grilled banana. Yucks.

We went to Chao Phraya River to take the boat to Sathorn Pier. Taking taxi around 5pm-730pm would be a very bad idea. Baht3 for a ride. But public boat will be very very damn packed! So we took private long boat for Baht500. Try to negotiate for cheaper price :)

Temple of Dawn.
 Food market near by Sathorn Pier.
Then we took BTS to Siam Paragon. High end shopping mall in Bangkok. Same like Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur but MUCH better!

The queue to Fuji Restaurant.

Head back to the hotel. For supper we went down to the pasar malam infront of our hotel.
Giant durians. Not so nice XO durians in SS2 still the best!
Padthai. Not nice either.
Super nice grilled fish! The fish is covered with salt but no worries it is not salty at all. It cost Baht50 per fish. I think u can get the same one in KL. A restaurant located in Pandan Perdana Lake club.
Grilled clams and prawns (Left). Papaya salads (Right).
I guess everything in Thailand are huge! Even the corns!

Grab some drinks from convenient store.

Sleep....ZzZzZz...

::Day 3::

Massage at Muaithai. For Thai traditional massage it is Baht200 per hour. Considered cheap. Located in Pratunam.

Til then..

Jogja post coming up soon!
