By Terry Light-Expert Foundation Brush

I tried By Terry Light-Expert Foundation Brush an hour ago and found myself lost in a dizzy "foundation paradise" I never knew existed. By Terry Light-Expert is a cross between a foundation pen and a Jedi saber. Click it and the pen fills with luscious, top-notch foundation. Then, brush it on, and weep from the quality of this Parisian makeup.

But then I solved the riddle of By Terry. How? Why?

Fast-forward to my vintage Yves Saint Laurent addiction. Terry de Gunzberg is a makeup artist whose relationship working for Yves Saint Laurent spanned fourteen years. And she painted faces for photographers like Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin.

Wow and dangerous hot. Worth fighting for at Barneys? Oui: Try the Apricot Light #2.

Buy it: By Terry Light-Expert Foundation Brush ($54), available at Barneys, eLuxury.com , or ya know, Paris.

LeClerc Cat Fight: Mix and Match

These NYT fashionistas got into a catfight, and I can't help but wonder whether Anita LeClerc is descended from the French Theophile LeClerc who invented rice-based powder, actually the compact in my pocketbook right now, or the LeClerc former pirate?

Buy it: T. LeClerc Pressed Powder ($46), Bigelow Chemists.

Readers and Redken: You're My True Friends

Britney Spears and I finally have something in common. She just got out of rehab, and so did my hair. My toasted hair is 80% back, but the path to recovery can be long.

Thanks ladies for all your help. I'm sorry I couldn't go with Juniper's recommendation because the only Sally Beauty Supply is a huge trek, but I did stay away from blowdryers and rock the barette thanks to your advice.

Then in a daze, and hungry for moisture, I bought Redken's All Soft Heavy Cream. The avocado oil in this puppy is tenacious and with a few more sessions, I think my hair will be back and better than ever. Wish me luck!

Buy it: Redken All Soft Heavy Cream ($15.00), drugstores.

Sound Advice from the Benefit Sisters

I was reading this magazine, and the sisters who founded Benefit cosmetics had a great tip. Put your lipstick on, if you wear it, before all your other makeup.
Especially if you're a beginner, this will really help.

If you put on blush and eyeshadow afterwards, you can find yourself using less and avoid overdoing the cheeks and eyes.

Buy it: Benefit lipstick ($16), Benefit and department stores.

Readers, I Could Use Your Help

I don't really bother too much about hair, but last week I think my blow dryer finally slurped my head. What do you do when your hair gets fried?

It's kinda bumming me out.

Post your thoughts here or send yer recommendations to eyeshadowgovernment at gmail.com. This has never happened to me before.

The Cat's Meow: Revlon Glimmer Gloss in Cherry Fizz and Ligne St. Barth Perfume

Budget

Not all of life's wonderful things need to bang a hole in your pocketbook. For one, Revlon Nail Glimmer's in Cherry Fizz and Apricot Freeze. If paparazzi got manicures with Cherry Fizz, there would never have been that fracas at the Western Wall between Leonardo DiCaprio's bodyguards. They would have been too preoccupied staring at their hands to even buy tickets to Israel.

Splurge

Ligne St. Barth perfume in Lys (Lily) is transcendent and coyly old-fashioned, which means it's perfect to wear for behaving inappropriately. Beautyhabit.com has a stash.

Rapunzel-ish You

Due to my new chic "do," I'm now on the hunt for new potions to treat my locks.

Shine

Beautyhabit.com has a fun 6-item sample program, so I ordered a sample of John Master's Primrose shampoo for dry hair. This shampoo totally upped the wattage of locks for two days. Also, the primrose, chamomile, and sage oils make washing your hair seem like a pleasant afternoon in the woods. On that note, this shampoo comes highly recommended.

Conditioning and Texture

At the top of my list has been the Davines Hair Oil for Wizards Finest Oil Non Oil and now, Davines Pliable Putty. Manufactured in Italy, all of the Davines are of the highest quality (and longest name).

Hair Oil for Wizards is designed for fine hair, and conditions without weighing down your tresses. Now, I have the putty too! You only need a nickel's worth, and it gives my shoulder-length layers oooomph. (I feel like a really, really fabulous person invented the word "oomph.") My hairdresser will remain a secret until the end of time (you can't have her); The Four Seasons online shop can hook you up instead.

My New Must-Have

Tiny and only good, this is it: Neutrogena Moisture Shine (TM) tinted lip balm in "Warm." Although my new pal is technically called a lip balm, the color is absolutely saturated and the shine level works for morning and afternoon.

The Neutrogena goddesses rolled this balm out in eight shades. I own "Warm," the darkest, but "Natural" and "Sunny" look sweet too. This reminds me that I should pick up a few extras in case I lose mine on the subway--or on a tropical island surrounded by palm trees. On a moped. You know, whichever happens first ;-)

Buy it: Neutrogena Moisture Shine ($4.99), drugstores.

Shake It, Beautiful!

I was dubious girls, and yet, we must always remember the miracles of plastics.
This electronics really buffs.

Dove SkinVitalizer
is an at-home facial system with a facial cleansing tool (plastic! and in terms of a tool, ten times better than woodshop). The system includes a packet of Exfoliating cleansing pillows, with two separate textures, you attach to the tool.

So, I tried the comparison test. My left hand would get a Dove SkinVitalizer treatment, and the other hand just had to wait in line. By the time I was done, my right hand was very jealous of my left. On the right, my skin looked sooo happy. And on the left, it looked grey and alone. We fixed that right away.

The end.

Buy it: Dove SkinVitalizer ($14.00), drugstores.
